Spottedfern woke up her leaf green eyes flickering open. Beside her was a warm thing looking down she saw Tigerpaw her new apprentice, she had been Squirrestars apprentice but later on had wanted to be a Medicine cat. Today would be their first day of training and Spottedfern couldn't wait to teach her apprentice. She stood up her grey spotted pelt shimmering in the light that filtered through a crack in the crock ceiling above. Spottedfern took a deep breathe in and caught the smells of the herbs in her den. If she concentrated hard she could still smell the scent of Cinderberry her old mentor and now dead medicine cat. Spottedfern took another deep breathe and padded over to Tigerpaw "Tigerpaw wake up" she meowed gently nudging her apprentice awake.

Tigerpaw opened her amber flecked eyes and yawned. For a moment she was about to ask where she was when she remembered that they day before she had become the medicine cat apprentice. She looked around and thought that she would miss sleeping next to her best friends Blossompaw, Thrushpaw and Amberpaw, but she knew that she would be able to help them if they got hurt. She smiled to herself at the thought. "Morning Spottedfern" she meowed yawning to her mentor. "What type of training are we learning?" she asked.

Spottedfern smiled "Im going to teach you some of the herbs we use" she meowed "Know I think you know what Cobwebs are but just in case" she padded to the entrance of where they kept all their herbs and came back with a load of sticky, silvery white cobwebs on her paw. "This can be used to stop blood" she meowed to Tigerpaw.

Tigerpaw looked down at the silvery white cobwebs "Yes I now what they are" she meowed "But that's it". She looked at het white paws a little embarrassed at the fact that she wants to be a medicine car and she doesn't know a thing about herbs at all.

Spottedfern looked at Tigerpaw "Hey don't worry" she meowed to her apprentice "I didn't know anything about herbs either" she touched Tigerpaws nose and smiled her leafy green eyes gleaming as well. "Know I want you to listen carefully" she meowed to her apprentice padding back to the entrance of the rock where the herbs were kept. She turned around when she was inside. "Now this" she pointed with her tail to some bright red berries "Are death berries they are dangerous and can kill a cat in seconds" she meowed.
